Recycling
Recycling – The Most Effective Way to Reduce Environmental Pollution
Recycling is the process modifying used materials into new materials with the aim to save and reduce environmental pollution. In addition to save and reduce environmental pollution, the aims of recycling are to reduce the use of new raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce pollution, reduce land degradation, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions when compared with the process of making new stuff.
In the process of recycling, new materials formed from materials that have been used, so that this process is the most effective way to save the environment from waste.
Recycling saves energy and natural resources. When this process occurs, the energy used to convert raw materials into finished goods can be saved for the future. In addition, this process also saves raw materials that taken from nature.
Recycling is something extraordinary that can be obtained from the trash. For example, recycling aluminum is believed to be able to save energy up to 95 percent and reduce air pollution by more than 90 percent if it compared to the process of making aluminum from raw materials (ore).
Many people assume that the process of composting is also a recycling process, but this process is more focused on materials that can not be recycled. Recycling stages is known as the 3R (Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle) and can be performed on waste paper, plastic, glass, textiles, metals, and electronic goods. The following are the steps of the recycling activities you can do:
- Reuse: Reusing items that can still be reused such as plastic bottles, plastic bags, paper, textiles and many more. Once sorted, look for items that can be reused and wash it first.
- Reduce: It is better if you donate or give to anyone who needs it such as clothes, paper, electronic goods and household appliances that have not you wear.
- Collecting: Finding items that have been in the waste such as paper, bottles of mineral water, milk boxes, cans and so on.
- Sorting: Grouping garbage that has been collected by type, such as glass, paper, and plastics.
If you have time and skills, you can do recycling by your hands. With your creativity, variety of garbage that has been collected can be transformed into new goods that are useful.
Most importantly, everyone can participate in the recycling process. At least the two early steps in the process i.e. reuse and reduce, so, what are you waiting for?
